The ultimate 8 days tour from Marrakech departs for Ouarzazate at 8 a.m. We’re headed to the fascinating 2,260-meter Tizi N’Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains. On the way, the Kasbah of Pacha Glaoui will be visited.
To go to Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou in Telouet, we travel through Berber settlements. Morocco’s largest was built in the 18th century by Ethami El Gloui. This Kasbah served as the filming location for Gladiator and The Kingdom of Heaven. We’ll go to the Movie Studios in Ouarzazate, where you’ll have dinner and spend the night.
Touarirt Kasbah is our first stop after breakfast. Traveling through the Zagora mountains of the Anti Atlas to Tizi Tinifift, 1600 meters above Draa Valley, is spectacular.
Several Berber communities and Kasbahs will be visited from inside on our tour. N’kob, Tarazine, and Alnif will be left behind before we reach Mharech Gorges, where you’ll stay overnight. Many of these places will be traversed during the Dakar Rally.
On the third day, Dakar Vally’s trail crosses Ouzina’s oasis and dunes, lonely people, and dry river beds. We will visit a few Berber settlements before arriving in Erg Chebbi, Morocco’s biggest desert, for a Saharan Pizza lunch with Berber. After leaving the hotel with the necessary gear, we will camp in the Sahara desert for supper and the night.
Daybreak over the dunes will be stunning this morning. We’ll wash and have breakfast at the hotel thereafter. Erg Chebbi dunes, about 250 meters high, are next. Traveling the historic Dakar Rally course.
Before nomad tents, we’ll stop at Tissardmin’s oasis. See Khamlia. This village is home to Mali-born Gnawa. Lunch at the hotel follows mint tea with one family and Gnawa music. You may view the sunset on the dunes in the afternoon. Your hotel serves dinner.
After breakfast and a wash, you’ll visit Rissani, an Alouite dynast and Morocco’s first imperial city. After seeing the greatest Souks (traditional marketplaces) in Rissani, we will visit the fossil workshops in Erfoud before reaching Tafilalet. Todra Gorges are next before Dades Valley, where you’ll have supper at the hotel.
We’ll go the Road of Thousand Kasbah from Dades Valley. The excursion visits Kalaat M’Gouna, the Valley of Roses. Skoura’s palm trees house the famous kasbah. Marrakech awaits us after this stop. When you arrive at your hotel on day 6, the trip ends.
