After breakfast, your driver will pick you up from your hotel in Marrakech at 8:30 a.m. to start your 6 days Sahara tour from Marrakech. You’ll pass real Berber towns and magnificent vistas on the High Atlas Mountains’ Tizi-N-Tichka pass (2,260 m). Visit Taourirt Kasbah and Oscar Film Studios before lunch in Ouarzazate.
Continue to the Rose Valley, known for damask roses and the May Rose Festival, and see the Skoura palm forest and kasbahs. Finally, sleep at a Dades Valley hotel with a view.
Touarirt Kasbah is our first stop after breakfast for your the second 6 days sahara tour from Marrakech. Traveling through the Zagora mountains of the Anti Atlas to Tizi Tinifift, 1600 meters above Draa Valley, is spectacular.
Several Berber communities and Kasbahs will be visited from inside on our tour. N’kob, Tarazine, and Alnif will be left behind before we reach Mharech Gorges, where you’ll stay overnight. Many of these places will be traversed during the Dakar Rally.
After breakfast, your 5-day Marrakech tour visits Todra Gorge via Berber settlements and Tinghir. Before reaching the Todra Gorges, a famous rock-climbing location, observe the palm-tree-lined Todra Valley. Explore the 300-m canyons on a short hike. Lunch in Tinjdad and Touroug, then Erfoud, the entrance to Tafilalet, the Saharan oasis. Reach Merzouga and the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes. Visit your nomadic Berber tents on a 1.6-hour camel ride with a sunset stop, sandboarding, and photographs. Camp out beneath the stars with mint tea, food, music, and overnight.
Daybreak over the dunes will be stunning this morning. We’ll wash and have breakfast at the hotel thereafter. Erg Chebbi dunes, about 250 meters high, are next. Traveling the historic Dakar Rally course.
Before nomad tents, we’ll stop at Tissardmin’s oasis. See Khamlia. This village is home to Mali-born Gnawa. Lunch at the hotel follows mint tea with one family and Gnawa music. You may view the sunset on the dunes in the afternoon. Your hotel serves dinner.
After breakfast and a wash, you’ll visit Rissani, an Alouite dynast and Morocco’s first imperial city. After seeing the greatest Souks (traditional marketplaces) in Rissani, we will visit the fossil workshops in Erfoud before reaching Tafilalet. Todra Gorges are next before Dades Valley, where you’ll have supper at the hotel.
Once we leave Dades Valley, we shall go down the Road of Thousand Kasbah. The next stop on the journey is Kalaat M’Gouna, popularly known as the Valley of Roses. The famous kasbah is situated among the palm groves of Skoura. We will go to Marrakech once our time in this region is up. The journey ends when you arrive at your lodging on the 6 days.
